As I wrap up the last week of my summer internship, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on my time here with Relevance Advisors as a Digital Marketing Intern. The past 3 months have been everything I could have ever asked for and more, and I couldn’t be more thankful to have had such an incredible internship opportunity. As I head into my senior year at Georgia Tech, I am excited to take the tangible business experience I’ve gained this summer and bring it back to the classroom this fall. Even though my time with Relevance is coming to an end, I find comfort in knowing that I am more than prepared to tackle my final year as an undergrad and embark on my full-time job search journey.

Just three short months ago my summer long journey began. Immediately after joining the team, I was treated as if I was just another team member and not just an intern. The entire team quickly acclimated me to the company culture, and we began my internship with a first-day lunch tradition at a local favorite, Taqueria del Sol. I even got the red carpet treatment and had the honor of choosing an appetizer for the entire table to share! In case you were on the edge of your seat, dying to know, I went with the cheese dip.

Following the celebratory first day lunch, my first couple of weeks were spent training and completing the necessary certifications in Google AdWords and Google Analytics. Luckily, I was very prepared and I already had a solid fundamental foundation from a digital marketing course I had taken prior to the start of my internship. After the completion of my certifications, I was able to dive right into real client work!

As one of two digital marketing interns this summer, my responsibilities primarily involved assisting and supporting our four search marketing analysts with their daily activities.

I did a substantial amount of work within Google AdWords Editor and Keyword Planner over the course of my internship and became very familiar with creating ad copy and conducting keyword research for various clients. In addition to that, I contributed to the launch of a client’s blog and was directly responsible for developing weekly client content in the form of individual blog posts.

The most rewarding experience of my internship would have to be the pro bono non-profit intern project that I had the pleasure of working on and being a part of. As part of a team, I worked on an entire client SEO project from start to finish. This involved conducting a thorough audit and competitive assessment, creating a slide deck, and presenting a final proposal to the client. This project gave me tremendous exposure to the client side of agency work and provided me with a tangible experience I can walk away with to claim as my own.

When we weren’t busy working this summer, you could find us at one of our fun corporate calendar events catching a Braves game at the brand new SunTrust Park, or reliving our childhoods at LEGOLAND Adult Night!

To my fellow team, I want to thank you for believing in me and helping me achieve all of my goals this summer. All of you welcomed me and took me under your wing from the very first day, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to learn from every single one of you. This summer was incredible and an invaluable experience I will never forget!

To future interns, my advice to you is to take full advantage of every opportunity you get to learn and run with it. This experience will shape you both personally and professionally and it’s all what you make of it. Relevance will give you the necessary tools to succeed and it’s up to you to determine how successful you will be during your time here and what that success will look like to you. Don’t let this amazing opportunity go to waste. I wish you the best of luck!
